Time Apart
This is the 2nd time in almost a year that I've been alone in this house. We're all busy with our own tasks, just as if we were alone. It feels empty w/o them...and still and silent save the splatter of melting snow. Nice.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
Woke up to a pristine world covered in snow. Wa-ya, half TimberWolf, half Siberian Husky, is in his element. Standing outside listening to the soft rustle of the snowflakes falling and Wa-ya's teeth gnashing as he tries to catch them in his mouth.
The Lady In The Moon
People talk about the man in the moon, but they're wrong. She'sa Lady. Each night when the moon is full she looks through our open window as we sleep and bathes us in her silver gaze. We know because she leaves silver strands of moonlight in our hair.
Upon the Wings of Eagles
The Old People say our prayers are borne to Grandfather upon thewings of Eagles. We feel incredibly blessed to share the hunting grounds of at least one of the 7,678 breeding pairs of Bald Eagles in the lower 48 states as of 2006.
And A Mist Covered The Earth...
Gossamer trails of mist, like a virgen's wedding vail, threads in and out of the trees on Sand Island. It rises from the river, sometimes high into the forest, at others, like today, it hovers an inch above the river from which it forms.
A Full Moon Rising
A full hour from sunset and the big winter moon, full and yellow, is already taking her place in the sky, and for that hour, that swift stolen moment she openly flaunts her cold stark beauty in protest to the sun.
Sunlit Winters' Day
We live ten miles from the Washington State/Oregon line and winter is cold, wet, dank and chilling from late October through May. But today...today was a rare day of sunlight and wispy white clouds and the promise of spring whispered in the trees.
Gentle Reminder...
Mightily blessed with the understanding, once again, that whatever is, IS, and all protestations to the contrary, the sooner I accept it, the sooner I can grow on. Thank you Grandfather for keeping my eyes focused on your will.
All Things ARE Possible...
Grandfather is so faithful. What are the odds that my best friend in life would turn out to be the daughter I left behind 35 years ago when I was flying blind and powerless, lost in my PTSD?
Sunrise January 23, 2007 (see pic)
The house was cold, I was tired and I REALLY didn't want to getout of bed...but I had things I needed to do, so I did--just in time for a glorious sunrise that felt like a hug from God.
Daily Affirmations...
When we try to walk the path that Grandfather has chosen for ourlives He not only leads the way but with each halting step we take in faith He blesses us with beauty. I feel His hand on my shoulder and His voice whisper in my ear "Yes, child, yes..."
